The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has officially announced the commencement of its recruitment process. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill vacancies across various cadres, including the Superintendent, Inspector, and Assistant categories. This will be a fair and transparent recruitment exercise as announced by the Service. Only qualified candidates will be considered for employment and handed their appointment letters.
NCS Recruitment 2025
Nigeria Customs Service is opening recruitment for multiple Cadres. Applications are invited for positions in the Superintendent, Inspector, and Customs Assistant cadres as part of the Service’s plan to recruit 3,927 officers in 2025 vacancies.
Category A – Customs Superintendent Cadre
ASCII (Support Staff) – CONSOL 08
Qualified candidates for this position must possess a Bachelor’s Degree, Higher National Diploma (HND), or equivalent qualifications in relevant fields. Additionally, candidates must have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme or possess an exemption certificate.
Fields of study include: Accounts, Audit, Building, Communication, Computer/ICT, Electrical Engineering, Health Information Management, Marine, Nursing, Nutrition/Dietary, Secretarial Studies, Sports, Stores/Procurement, Quantity Surveying, Actuarial Science, Mechanical Engineering, and Law.

AIC (Support Staff) – CONSOL 06
Applicants should possess an Ordinary National Diploma (OND), National Certificate of Education (NCE), or equivalent qualifications from recognised polytechnics or institutions in the following fields: Accounts, Audit, Building, Communication/Camera Handling/Photography, Computer/ICT, Electrical Engineering, Health Information Management, Health Service Administration, Medical Laboratory Technology, Pharmaceutical Technology, Marine, Nursing, Nutrition/Dietary, and Secretarial Studies.
Customs Assistant (Support Staff) – CONSOL 03 & 04
Candidates must possess a First School Leaving Certificate, Junior Secondary School Certificate, Senior Secondary School Certificate, or equivalent qualifications alongside relevant trade certificates. Positions include Clerical Assistants.
Category B – General Duty Cadre
Assistant Inspector – CONSOL 06
Eligible candidates should hold OND, NCE, or equivalent qualifications from recognised institutions.
Customs Assistant Grade II – CONSOL 04
Applicants must have SSCE/NECO or GCE credentials, with credits in English, Mathematics, and at least three other subjects obtained in one sitting. Alternatively, candidates can present passes in four subjects, including English and Mathematics, obtained in one sitting or five subjects in no more than two sittings.
Customs Assistant Grade III – CONSOL 03
Applicants are required to provide evidence of completing secondary education at a government-approved school or relevant trade certificates.
General NCS Recruitment Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be Nigerian citizens by birth or descent.
- Male candidates must measure at least 1.7 metres in height, while females must measure 1.64 metres. A fully expanded chest measurement of 0.87 metres is required for males.
- Be certified physically and mentally fit by a government medical officer.
- Have no physical or mental disabilities.
- Be of good character and free from financial embarrassment or criminal records.
- Be computer literate.
- Present a certificate of state of origin signed by the Chairman/Secretary of their local government. Certificates signed by liaison officers are unacceptable.
- Superintendent Cadre applicants must not exceed 30 years of age. Candidates for Inspector and Customs Assistant Cadres must be between 18 and 25 years old.
NCS Recruitment Application Process
Applications are to be submitted online via the Nigeria Customs Service Recruitment Portal at www.vacancy.customs.gov.ng. Candidates should click on the “Vacancies” tab on the homepage, complete the appropriate application form, and submit it online.
Hard copy applications submitted to the Customs Headquarters in Abuja or other formations will not be considered. Only online applications for the advertised positions will be accepted.
Upon submission, applicants will receive an acknowledgment with a reference number, which must be quoted in all future correspondence.
Deadline for Application
The application process opens on 27 December 2024 and will close on 2 January 2025, which is the deadline for submission. Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for the next stage of the recruitment process.
Candidates will be assessed based on the certificates presented during the application process. Upgrading of qualifications before or after recruitment will not be entertained.
